Nasceu a 30 de Setembro de 1985 em Philadelphia, nos Estados Unidos, embora tenha sido criada em New Jersey. Tornou-se conhecida do grande público pelos papeis como atriz, desempenhados nas séries Arrow e Spartacus. Em criança, fruto de alguma hiperactividade que a caracterizava, abraçou diversas actividades e interesses relacionados com actividade física – ginástica, dança, karaté e mesmo futebol. Por parte do Pai herdou a sua descendência alemã e italiana, com o exotismo da Tailândia, nacionalidade da Mãe. Ambos conhecerem-se no Vietname, no decorrer da Guerra onde o Pai se apresentava ao serviço das tropas norte-americanas.

Krystal Marie Ball nasceu a 24 de Novembro de 1981, no Estado em Virginia, nos Estados Unidos. Depois de uma frustrada tentativa de candidatura política em virtude de um vídeo privado colocado a circular na internet, no qual Krystal aparecia um pouco "eufórica"numa festa entre amigos, foi-lhe oferecido um cargo de jornalista-política no canal de televisão MSNBC, como apresentadora do programa The Cycle.

"I was on a redeye flight from San Francisco to Washington, D.C., after an exhausting week, and I just wanted to go to sleep, but I had the awful middle seat, and the guy next to me is like, "So, are you going home or going on a trip?" We ended up having a six-hour conversation. He also worked in software development but in education, and was working with an online school to develop interesting programs to help kids learn. At the end of the flight he said to me, "You know, you're looking for a new direction, and I don't have enough resources to offer you a full-time job, but do you want to help me out on a project on the evenings and weekends and see where it goes?"
